Biography

Ms. Shaheen was educated at Madonna University in Livonia, Michigan.  She received her Master of Science Degree in Business Administration in 1990 and received her Bachelor of Science Degree in sales and marketing for Ford Motor Company.  Previous positions included sales representative, retail marketing specialist, advertising manager, and dealer operations manager.  As a manager in sales and marketing, she has extensive experience in business strategy development, decision-making, problem-solving, writing skills, and oral communication skills.  She retired from Ford Motor Company with 32 years of service.

She is a certified substitute teacher with Seminole County Schools and a part-time instructor for the University of Phoenix, teaching business and communication courses.  She has been a member of the Orlando Chapter of SCORE for nine years, providing consulting services to existing and future entrepreneurs.  She has represented SCORE in the Central Florida business community by interacting with local chambers, legislative representatives, and others connected with small businesses.

Advice

1.  I recommend the books Speak Up With Confidence by Valenti and Who Moved My Cheese by Spencer Johnson.  Both of these books will motivate and inspire small business entrepreneurs.

2.  Research your potential market.  Before you invest your time and money into business, it's important to have a thorough understanding of what you can expect in the way of benefits and obstacles.
